Our Mission: The Our Fund Foundation promotes philanthropy, manages enduring investments and conducts impactful grant-making to improve the lives of LGBTQ people in South Florida.
Our Fund Foundation was launched in 2010 by a small group of committed activist philanthropists in response to the low ratio of philanthropy directed to LGBT organizations in the region, and across the country. Recognizing that a concentration of LGBT wealth exists in the region for the next several decades due to the dense LGBT population base in South Florida, a LGBT foundation was envisioned as a means of capturing and preserving LGBT financial resources to create a livable community for this and future generations in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties.
One hundred individuals, couples and families signed on as First Hundred Funders with three-year financial commitments of $4,500 – $45,000 to support Our Fund’s infrastructure and initial granting.
Since 2011, Our Fund Foundation has become the 3rd largest LGBT foundation in the country, granting $1,500,000+ annually to worthy non-profit agencies advancing LGBT causes in South Florida and has grown its asset base above $17M.
Prior to joining Our Fund Foundation as its President and CEO, David Jobin was the Executive Director of the Stonewall National Museum & Archives from 2013 – 2015. While at Stonewall, the organization launched the Stonewall Gallery on Wilton Drive placing the organization at the intersection of gay South Florida.
Prior to moving to Florida, David was the Executive Director of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, DC from 2009 – 2013. Before becoming active in LGBT causes professionally, David spent twenty years in theatre management, at Magic Theatre (San Francisco) and City Theatre Company (Pittsburgh, PA).
David performed with the Renaissance City Choirs in Pittsurgh, PA, Silicon Valley Gay Men’s Chorus in San Jose, CA, and the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus and was also a singing member of the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida. David currently serves on the board of Slow Burn Theatre.
David was selected as Person of the Year by South Florida Gay News in 2018 in recognition of the impact that Our Fund has made on South Florida’s LGBT community.
David currently resides in Wilton Manors with his husband, Angel Burgos.
Mark Blaylock joined Our Fund Foundation in the summer of 2015 with extensive experience in a number of areas including financial and investment management and reporting; audit, budgeting and tax reporting; and process analysis and improvement. Prior to moving to Florida, Mark worked in the banking sector for over 20 years, helping launch and manage two de-novo community banks and then served as the Finance Director in the non-profit arena for several years in Washington, DC.
Mark is originally from Tennessee, but lived most of his life in Pennsylvania and Arlington, VA prior to relocating to Florida. When not focused on efforts at Our Fund, Mark enjoys singing, is an avid sports fan – both playing and watching – and is often found reading or walking on the beach near his home in Fort Lauderdale Beach.
Ted joined Our Fund in the spring of 2022, after enjoying a very brief retirement from his career in senior-level financial oversight of cultural non-profits in Manhattan, with stints at Film at Lincoln Center and the Park Avenue Armory. Prior to that, Ted experienced the dot-com frenzy of the late nineties first-hand, serving as Vice President of Finance for Jupiter/Media Metrix from its start-up days through its successful IPO.
Now a full-time South Florida resident, Ted is happy to be directing his passion to serving the needs of the local non-profit community. In his spare time Ted enjoys playing tennis, patronizing local performing art venues, watching the Yankees from afar, and following the orders of a bossy poodle named Chiclet.
Obed Caballero’s background is from the HIV prevention field, with skills in community outreach, counseling, public speaking, and interpersonal communication. As a South Florida native, his dedication to the LGBTQ+ community and the various causes and issues that affect it lead him to volunteering with local agencies, and then working directly in the non-profit world, focusing on providing education and resources to youth of color. He also brings an artistic design flare to Our Fund, with his talents and background in graphic design and illustration. Obed is also a proud “gaymer”, having started a monthly Gaymer Night for LGBTQ+ people and allies to have a safe space to enjoy their hobby and be themselves.
