Our Fund exists to support a sustainably livable community for all South Floridians by promoting and increasing responsible philanthropy directed at agencies advancing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties.
In the model of community foundations across the country, Our Fund strengthens community organizations and their leaders, mobilizes donors and funders, inspires giving, and actively secures our LGBT community’s future for generations to come.
Our Fund's History
Our Fund was launched in 2010 by a small group of committed activist philanthropists in response to the low ratio of philanthropy directed to LGBG organizations in the region, and across the country. Recognizing that a concentration of LGBT wealth exists in the region for the next several decades due to the dense LGBT population base in South Florida, a LGBT foundation was envisioned as a means of capturing and preserving LGBT financial resources to create a livable community for this and future generations in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties.
One hundred individuals, couples and families signed on as First Hundred Funders with three-year financial commitments of $4,500 - $45,000 to support Our Fund’s infrastructure and initial granting.
In five short years, Our Fund has become the 6th largest LGBT funder in the country, granting $1,000,000+ to worthy non-profit agencies advancing LGBT causes in South Florida.
