Dr. Courtney Jones is a leading figure in 21st-century trumpet performance and an award-winning Bach solo artist. He is in high demand as a clinician and soloist, performing internationally and collaborating with well-known jazz and popular artists such as Kenny Burrell, B.B. King, and Stevie Wonder. In addition to his solo career, he has performed with numerous orchestras and ensembles around the world. He has also contributed music to film and television productions including “Glee” and “Criminal Minds”. Dr. Jones holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and has taught at UCLA, the University of Iowa, and Columbus State University. He currently serves as Assistant Professor of Trumpet and Artistic Director of Jazz and Chamber Ensembles at Florida Atlantic University.
The Florida Atlantic University Jazz Orchestra (FAjO), is a talented ensemble that performs a range of jazz styles, including big band swing and contemporary fusion. Comprised of a full horn section, rhythm section, and vocalists, the group brings energy and musicianship to their performances. In addition to performing, they also participate in education and outreach activities in the community. Don’t miss a chance to see them, and Dr. Jones, at Jammin’ at The Center.
